This trek starts from the Kareri village, which is just 25 km from the Gaggal airport in Dharamshala. A short drive and one is at the road head for the trail of the Kareri lake. The trail starts off from a thick forest, filled with amazing flora and fauna. We follow the Nyud, river upstream, and in the end trekking over the rocky boulders, leading to a most stunning Kareri lake nested in the Dhauladhar range. The lake is normally frozen from Dec to March/April. One can do short hikes from Kareri lake to see the scenic views and the amazing Dhauladhar range, which when covered with snow looks no less than the swiss alps. There is an Old Shiva Temple on a hilltop overlooking the beautiful lake.
