6270m
MAX ALTITUDEMentok Kangri I is a challenging 6,270 metre peak, in Eastern Ladakh which lies at the far end of the Rupshu plateau, which is home to the famous Changpa nomads. We begin the trek to the mountain from Tsokhar Lake, cross over four high passes to reach the base of this stunning peak overlooking the vast Tso-moriri lake. The climb is a mix of climbing up icy slopes, traversing snow slopes and crossing boulder fields and the conditions are dynamic depending on the time of the year. Views of Chamsher & Lungser Kangri across the expanse of Tso Morriri is magical, especially on the summit day! The constant aerial views of Tso Moriri and its dazzling yet ever changing colours is a highlight of the climb apart from the challenge of navigating the icy terrain on the slopes.

A moderate climbing expedition to a peak above 6000m. These climbs generally have a short approach march and a challenging summit day which is attempted from a base camp or an advance base camp. The climb will require basic climbing skills and would involve being roped up on glacial terrain and climbing with mountaineering boots and crampons in excess of 10hours on the summit night. Some climb even requires you to climb on fixed ropes with an ascender on steep terrain. The level of difficulty both physically and technically is a notch above a trekking peak.
