Trekking Peak
Tucked away in the vast high-altitude landscape of Ladakh’s Markha Valley, Dzo Jongo East (6,220m) is one of the Himalaya’s most rewarding introductory mountaineering objectives. Rising above the grazing meadows of Nimaling, and located under the shadow of the more famous Kang Yatse massif, this elegant 6000-metre peak offers an experience that feels wild, remote, and deeply Himalayan without the highly technical nature of larger expedition climbs. Often described as a trekking peak, Dzo Jongo East climb ascends through Ladakh’s stark cold-desert terrain, crossing moraine slopes, alpine ridges, and broad summit shoulders before culminating in a spectacular panoramic summit with views stretching across the Karakoram Range, the Zanskar mountains, and the endless ridgelines of eastern Ladakh. What makes the mountain especially appealing is the balance it strikes between accessibility and genuine high-altitude adventure. Quieter than many of the Himalaya’s more commercialised climbs, Dzo Jongo East offers a more immersive and rewarding experience in the mountains while remaining achievable for fit trekkers looking to take their first step into mountaineering while breaking the 6000m/20,000ft barrier. It wouldn't be stretch to call Dzo Jongo East the easiest 6000m objective in the world!

On a Technical Trek/ Trekking Peak the average day could involve more than 6-7 hrs of walking. These trips might cover difficult and glaciated terrain where use of ropes and technical mountaineering equipment like crampons, harness, carabiners, descenders etc might come into play. On these trips one is required to stay at high altitudes for lengthy periods of time and hence acclimatization is always a concern. These treks can also throw a bit of surprise largely because of unpredictable nature of the terrain and the snow/ ice conditions in the high mountains and hence we always have a contingency day of two built into the plan. These trips would last close to two weeks and go to wild, remote places mostly cut off from civilization.
