Panwali Kantha is an ideal trek for first-timers, one that kindles a certain interest & passion for the mountains. Situated between the Bhagirathi & Mandakini valleys, the trek offers some of the best 360-degree views of Garhwal Himalayan mountains, especially of the Kedarnath range. The trek starts off gradually in the Bhilangna valley's village of Gwan and initially goes through jungles. Soon, you climb up beyond the tree line & reach the vast meadows of Matiya from where the views start to get better and better. The highest point on the trek is Pawanli Kantha at 3650m where you get to see prominent snow peaks like Bandarpunch, Thalay Sagar, Meru, Kirti Stambh, Kedar Dome, Kedarnath, Chaukhambha, Nilkanth & Nanda Devi. We also climb up to another viewpoint called Jardi top before we descend.
