With Mt.Dhaulagiri, the sevent highest mountain in the world standing tall at 8,167 meters (26,795 feet) on one side and the entire Annapurna Massif - with over six peaks above 7000m - towering on the other side, the Khopra Danda trek is an absolute delight for anyone wanting to experience big mountain views in a short duration. The Khopra Danda is a high point on a ridgeline that rises to the east of the Kali Gandaki river, and the trek to the top is through wonderful rhododendron forests and open meadows. Once above the tree line, you walk on a long winding ridge just south of all the big mountains of the great Himalayan range. One gets to experience incredible views of sunrise and sunsets on this trek with the sun and snow putting up colourful show of varying hues of red and gold on the peaks. With views extending from Dhaluagiri IV in the west all the way till Macchapuchare in the east, you see over 20 Himalayan peaks within touching distance on this trek. This is a great alternative for those looking to trek in a quiter setting in the Annapurna Region away from the crowds while experiencing everything that the area offers.

A trip graded as a Moderate Trek takes you to high altitude regions - above 3000m / 10,0000ft and will involve considerable altitude gain over the course of the trek. Altitude will have an effect, hence one would need to be careful about acclimatization. Moderate treks will have multiple days which involve considerable amount of ascents and descents and would require walking for more than 6 hours. There might be a day or two of camping in relatively high altitudes above 4000m / 13,000ft. A typical trek will last around a week to ten days depending on the region and is a good step-up for people who have completed a beginner trek. Good fitness level is very much needed to enjoy this trip. Some training up before the trip would help. Prior trekking experience is desirable but not compulsory.
Please Note: The tea-houses on this particular trek are all basic as they are quite off the popularly visited trails in Nepal. The food menu is limited, the rooms in these tea-houses are neat and clean but have common toilets.
